President of Uzbekistan meets with Speaker of the National Assembly of the Republic of Korea

On September 15, as part of his state visit to the Republic of Korea, President of the Republic of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev met with Speaker of the National Assembly Cho Jeong-sik.

At the meeting, the sides noted the significant role of the parliaments of both countries in promoting the Uzbek-Korean special strategic partnership.

Interparliamentary friendship groups are active, parliamentary delegations regularly exchange visits, and fruitful experience-sharing has been established between the relevant committees of the two countries’ legislative bodies.

With the support of the National Assembly and the Korea International Cooperation Agency, the E-Parliament project is being implemented in both chambers of the Oliy Majlis of the Republic of Uzbekistan.

The sides emphasized the importance of establishing a cooperation mechanism to ensure parliamentary monitoring of the implementation of high-level agreements, primarily in the areas of trade, economic, investment, cultural and humanitarian cooperation.

Following the meeting, an agreement was reached to hold a series of parliamentary diplomacy events in 2027 to mark the 35th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Uzbekistan and the Republic of Korea.
