Message from President Shavkat Mirziyoyev to the participants of the ceremony dedicated to the launch of construction of the China-Kyrgyzstan-Uzbekistan railway

Dear participants events!
I sincerely welcome you to the launch ceremony of the construction of the new China-Kyrgyzstan-Uzbekistan railway.
Six months ago, the first full-fledged Agreement on the implementation of this strategic trans-regional project was signed. The preparation of technical documentation was completed in a short time. And today we are starting construction work directly.
This is a truly historic event, which our friendly countries have been working towards for almost 30 years.
A new transport artery of international importance is being formed.
It will connect the Central Asian region with China by the shortest land route and will contribute to further expansion multifaceted cooperation and strengthening the strategic partnership of our states.
This project is also fully consistent with the goals of the Belt and Road Initiative, which today unites many countries of the world in the name of joint sustainable development and prosperity.
In this regard, I would like to once again express my gratitude to my respected colleagues - the Chairman of the People's Republic of China, Mr. Xi Jinping and the President of the Kyrgyz Republic Sadyr Nurgozhoevich Zhaparov for his personal contribution and active efforts to promote the project.
Dear participants of the ceremony!
I would like to especially note the great effect of the construction of a new railway for the economies of our countries and our vast region.
This major infrastructure project involves broad cooperation based on advanced engineering, innovative and digital solutions, in compliance with high environmental standards.
20 stations, 42 bridges and 25 tunnels will be built along the route Kashgar - Torugart - Makmal - Jalal-Abad - Andijan.
In addition, a modern transit and logistics infrastructure, warehouses and terminals will be created.
It is estimated that the commissioning of this highway will serve to multiply the scale of regional trade and investment, significantly reduce transport costs and unlock the enormous transit potential of Central Asia.
I would like to give a few more figures.
The annual volume of cargo transportation along our corridor will amount to up to 15 million tons.
The distance and delivery time of goods from China to European countries will be reduced by several thousand kilometers and almost a week.
It will be possible to organize regular passenger transportation.
In the future, the connection of this railway line and the Trans-Afghan corridor will effectively connect and strengthen the transport and communication interconnectedness of China, Central and South Asia.
It is obvious that the economic benefits will be felt by all our countries. Hundreds of new enterprises and tens of thousands of jobs will be created.
And, of course, this project will contribute to the revival of the Great Silk Road, the development of cultural and humanitarian exchange, and the further rapprochement of our peoples.
Dear friends!
Uzbekistan intends to actively participate in all stages of the construction of the railway, using in full all available technical and intellectual resources.
I am convinced that through joint efforts this transport corridor will become another symbol of our strong friendship and partnership and progress.
On New Year's Eve I would like to wish great success to engineers, builders, and everyone involved in the implementation of this strategic project. Today, with your hands, the common future of our countries, our region is being created.
Thank you for your attention.
