The feat of heroic ancestors who fought for the Motherland and people is a great school of example
On August 29, a solemn ceremony of representatives of state and public organizations, intellectuals and veterans took place in the Shahidlar Khotirasi Alley.
President Shavkat Mirziyoyev took part in the ceremony.
In memory of the devoted sons of the Motherland, suras from the Koran were read. The funeral pilaf was served.
At the symbolic grave a conversation was held with scientists and public figures about the importance of studying history and educating young people in the spirit of respect for peace and independence.
– Every year on the eve of Independence Day, we offer prayers in memory of our ancestors who gave their lives for the freedom of the Motherland. Their courage and feat will always be a school of example for us,” the head of state noted.
History contains difficult pages: during the years of repression, more than 100 thousand innocent fellow citizens were subjected to repression. Thousands were shot on unjust charges, many were exiled, leaving behind widows and orphans. Almost a century has passed, but the memories of these tragic events still resonate with pain in the hearts of the people. These lessons further encourage us to appreciate our present freedom and strengthen our independence.
The President emphasized that in recent years a lot has been done to perpetuate the memory of our ancestors. More than 1,200 names of those repressed were cleared, the museum “In Memory of the Victims of Repression” was reconstructed and supplemented with thousands of new documents, similar museums are being created in the regions. This year marks the 150th anniversary of the birth of the leader of the Jadid movement, Mahmudhodji Behbudi, and the State Museum of Jadid Heritage is being created in Bukhara.
– It is important to convey “living” history to the people, especially to young people. Since last year, the first week of October has been celebrated as the Week of Remembrance for Victims of Political Repression. This year it is held in the format of the Week of Memory and Education. It is necessary to fill it with deep content and make it accessible to everyone: conduct special lessons in schools and universities, TV shows, competitions for young people. It is necessary to educate the younger generation to realize what a great value independence is and what strong personalities our ancestors were. Spiritually strong youth set big goals for themselves, study hard and develop harmoniously, noted Shavkat Mirziyoyev.
Separately, the importance of studying the lives of outstanding educators was emphasized. The Jadids were innovators in many areas: they created the first Uzbek novels, theatrical and film works, and textbooks on various subjects. If Turkestan students studying in Germany in the 1920s had not become victims of repression, they could have transformed society. It is important that young people know and are proud of these examples.
Such a spiritual foundation is the pillar of national unity and stability. Today, when threats to the independence of states are growing in the world, this is especially relevant. All this requires our unity, vigilance and consistent continuation of reforms.
Fortunately, peace and tranquility reign in Uzbekistan, people look to the future with confidence. This is our greatest wealth.
At the end of the event, a dua was read asking that peace, harmony and prosperity in our country always be strong and permanent.

President Shavkat Mirziyoyev inspected the road tunnel built on New Uzbekistan Street in Tashkent.
The development of road infrastructure and the creation of amenities for transport traffic is a constant process and is especially important for the capital, where the population is growing and city boundaries are expanding.
In recent years, a park, residential complexes, a university and an Olympic village have appeared on New Uzbekistan Street. In the future, this street will become one of the main highways leading to the city of New Tashkent.
In this regard, a tunnel 468 meters long and 25 meters wide was built along the street, the throughput of which exceeds 10 thousand cars per hour.
A green zone was created above the tunnel, thereby ensuring safe pedestrian movement between the Yangi Uzbekistan Park and the Olympic Village.
In addition, a tunnel and a station for the future metro line were built in this direction.
It should be noted that every project implemented in our country takes into account environmental aspects. The new tunnel will reduce the travel time of cars by half, save about 1 ton of fuel per day and reduce the volume of harmful emissions into the atmosphere by 2 tons.
The head of state drew attention to the fact that the tunnel was built in accordance with modern standards. It was emphasized that such convenient roads create comfort for the population and contribute to the development of tourism.
