Uzbekistan and Turkmenistan sign Agreement on Establishment of High-Level Strategic Partnership Council

President of the Republic of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev met with President of Turkmenistan Serdar Berdymukhamedov.

At the beginning of the meeting, President Shavkat Mirziyoyev congratulated Serdar Berdymukhamedov on the 35th anniversary of Turkmenistan’s independence, as well as on his productive chairmanship of the Consultative Meeting of the Heads of State of Central Asia and Azerbaijan and the Commonwealth of Independent States.

The leaders focused on further deepening Uzbek-Turkmen strategic partnership relations.

They noted with satisfaction the positive dynamics of trade and economic cooperation. Since the beginning of the year, mutual trade has continued to grow steadily, while the Shavat-Dashoguz cross-border trade zone has been operating successfully.

The Presidents emphasized the importance of adopting an Action Plan to significantly increase mutual trade and a Cooperation Program in such areas as industry, energy, transport, agriculture and water management, including cooperation between the regions of the two countries.

Following the meeting, the leaders signed an Agreement on the Establishment of the High-Level Strategic Partnership Council, creating a strong institutional framework for further deepening political dialogue and expanding practical cooperation in priority areas.
