Issues of foreign trade and transport were discussed
President Shavkat Mirziyoyev held a meeting on June 23 to discuss urgent measures in foreign trade and transport and logistics.
The hostilities that have occurred in recent days in the Middle East have further exacerbated an already unstable situation. This cannot but affect foreign economic relations and Uzbekistan’s access to world markets.
In this regard, it is necessary to objectively assess what is happening and promptly take measures in such key areas as foreign trade, investment and transport, it was emphasized at the meeting.
In particular, the need to diversify export routes and redirect cargo to other, safer ones was pointed out ports. According to preliminary calculations, this could lead to an increase in transport costs of up to 30 percent. In this regard, instructions were given to coordinate alternative routes with partner countries and support export-oriented enterprises.
The heads of the Ministry of Transport, the Ministry of Investment and Foreign Trade, the Chamber of Commerce and Industry and other relevant departments are tasked with closely interacting with business entities, assisting them in export-import operations, as well as in finding new markets.
At the same time, the importance of maintaining sustainable production rates and price stability in the domestic market was emphasized.
