The new railway line will give a powerful impetus to the economic development and well-being of Urgut
President Shavkat Mirziyoyev inspected the progress of work on the construction of the new Samarkand-Urgut railway line.
Construction of this railway began in February of this year, its total length is 55 kilometers. As part of the project, two railway stations and the same number of freight stations were built in the Urgut free economic zone and a number of bridges. In the future, it is planned to completely electrify this line.
The new line will provide the movement of two pairs of intercity trains and nine pairs of freight trains. Completion of the project is scheduled for the end of this year. The launch of train traffic will make it possible to annually serve 359 thousand passengers and transport 8.2 million tons of cargo.
The line is especially significant in that it provides residents of the city of Samarkand, as well as Jambay, Pastdargom, Tailak and Urgut regions with safe and modern transport services. In addition, it will give a great impetus to the development of domestic tourism.
Railway infrastructure is one of the key sectors of the economy, and this project will contribute to the further development of the potential of the Urgut free economic zone. The launch of the new line will create 130 new jobs.
The head of our state, together with representatives of the public, went to Urgut by train.
During the trip, the President gave additional instructions to those in charge to develop the railway infrastructure, further improve comfort for passengers, electrify lines and improve the surrounding areas. He also drew attention to the construction and improvement work being carried out along the road.
It is noted that the Urgut region, as a territory with great potential, is becoming increasingly important. The local population has a high entrepreneurial spirit. In the development of such areas that are strategically significant for the country's economy, modern logistics and infrastructure play a decisive role.
With the advent of the new railway in Urgut, obstacles will be removed and logistics “blots” that limited economic growth will be eliminated. The transportation of goods will be faster, the price will be reduced and products will reach markets faster, and additional amenities for investors will be expanded, ultimately increasing the competitiveness of the region.
Most importantly, the new opportunities created in the region will have a direct positive impact on the standard of living of the population. In places with developed infrastructure, the number of jobs increases, services improve, and business activity intensifies.
It was noted that this project is an important link in the modernization and expansion of the railway network. The need for timely and high-quality completion of work, the widespread introduction of digital technologies, as well as cost optimization were emphasized.
During the conversation that took place on the train, the positive impact of social and economic transformations taking place in Samarkand was clearly visible in the lives of the population. Particular attention was paid to educating young people in the spirit of patriotism, developing in them the qualities necessary for the creators of New Uzbekistan. It was also emphasized that the lands adjacent to the railway laid to Urgut need to be developed, improve the culture of agriculture in these territories, and also strengthen cooperation in the field of education, including with neighboring countries.
Urgut station is one of the key stations of the new line. The President drew attention to the tasks related to the station’s infrastructure, service system and organization of passenger movement. It was emphasized that it is important to create convenience for tourists.
Here, the head of our state had a warm conversation with the activists of the Urgut region. It discussed the changes taking place in the region, the standard of living of people and the importance of a peaceful environment.
It was noted that improving the living conditions of the population, increasing incomes and well-being, and improving mahallas remain one of the main priorities of state policy. It was emphasized that structural changes in the economy are bearing fruit: large projects are being implemented in industry, agriculture, tourism, transport and energy.
Representatives of the older generation noted that these changes have a tangible impact on people's lives, the population highly appreciates the ongoing reforms.
