The leaders of Uzbekistan and Turkmenistan discussed current issues on the bilateral agenda

At the Congress Center of the National Tourism Center Avaza zone, negotiations were held between the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev and the National Leader of the Turkmen people, Chairman of the Halk Maslakhaty of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov in a tete-a-tete format and with the participation of official delegations.
At the beginning of the conversation, the leader of Turkmenistan conveyed sincere greetings and best wishes of the President to the head of our state Turkmenistan Serdar Berdimuhamedov.
The President of Uzbekistan once again warmly congratulated the country's leadership and the fraternal Turkmen people on the successful holding of the third UN Conference on Landlocked Developing Countries in Avaza earlier this month.
Current issues of further expansion and strengthening were considered Uzbek-Turkmen relations of friendship, good neighborliness and strategic partnership in the context of the implementation of agreements at the highest level.
The dynamic development of mutually beneficial cooperation in all areas was noted with deep satisfaction.
Since the beginning of this year, trade turnover has amounted to $700 million. Since February, a free trade regime has been in effect between the countries, and trading houses operate in the capitals. Cooperation projects are being implemented in the fields of industry, energy, transport, agriculture and water management, and other sectors of the economy.
Joint work is being completed to launch the Shavat - Dashoguz trade zone this year.
In preparation for the upcoming summit meetings, the importance of productive meetings of intergovernmental commissions and the Business Council of a number of cultural events was noted.
The leaders also exchanged views on agenda of the upcoming seventh Consultative Meeting of the Heads of State of Central Asia. In this context, the practical significance of the current negotiations in the “Azerbaijan – Turkmenistan – Uzbekistan” format was noted.
