The leaders of Uzbekistan and China discussed issues of further strengthening the relations of all-weather comprehensive strategic partnership
In accordance with the program of the official visit to China, on September 2, negotiations between the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev and the Chairman of the People's Republic of China Xi Jinping were held in Beijing with the participation of members of official delegations.
The issues of deepening Uzbek-Chinese relations, all-weather comprehensive strategic partnership and building up practical interaction were considered.
At the beginning of the meeting, the head of our state sincerely congratulated the leader of China and the friendly Chinese people on the 80th anniversary of the Victory, as well as on the successful holding of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization summit events in the city of Tianjin.
The President of Uzbekistan once again emphasized the timeliness and relevance of the initiative of Chinese President Xi Jinping on global governance.
The heads of state noted that over the past years a powerful breakthrough has been made in the development of bilateral relations. The growing dynamics of contacts at all levels, the strengthening of political dialogue and mutual support on key issues were noted with particular satisfaction.
Uzbekistan’s constant position on supporting the “one China” policy and the fight against the “three forces of evil” - terrorism, extremism and separatism was confirmed.
It is developing dynamically trade, economic, technological and financial and investment interaction. Last year, trade turnover exceeded $14 billion and has grown by another 23 percent since the beginning of the year. The goal is to bring this figure to 20 billion through mutual supplies of industrial and agricultural goods.
The portfolio of investment projects exceeds $60 billion. In 2024, 64 projects worth more than $10 billion were launched. In the regions of our country there are joint technology parks and special industrial zones, the production of BYD electric vehicles is expanding with an increase in the level of localization.
On the eve of the visit, a business forum was successfully held. Prospective projects have been developed in the field of green energy and increasing energy efficiency, modernization and digitalization of public transport, construction of toll roads, deep processing of critical minerals, as well as in the field of chemistry, water and agriculture, tourism and urban planning.
Full-scale partnership with Exim Bank, State Development Bank of China, Silk Road Fund and other institutions is expanding. With the support of Exim Bank, the construction of the Olympic village was recently completed in Tashkent.
The intensification of interregional exchanges was highly appreciated. Expert assistance will continue in the implementation of joint activities aimed at eradicating poverty in our country based on the Chinese experience.
It is proposed to create an Uzbek-Chinese center for the development of artificial intelligence to promote innovative projects and train specialists.
The beginning of the practical phase of construction of the strategic China-Kyrgyzstan-Kyrgyzstan railway was noted with satisfaction Uzbekistan.
The need to expand partnerships in the fields of science, medicine, education and tourism was pointed out. A branch of the Northwestern Rural and Forestry University and the International Mathematical Center have been opened in our country. An agreement was signed to open a branch of Xi'an Petroleum University. There are plans to open a branch of the Beijing Institute of Technology.
This year the second Educational Forum will be held in Uzbekistan. Support was expressed for expanding the study of the Chinese language and increasing quotas for training Uzbek youth, developing the activities of Confucius Institutes.
It is planned to create Uzbek-Chinese “Lu Ban Workshops” in the regions of our country to train specialists in the fields of energy, mechanical engineering, artificial intelligence, medicine, agriculture.
In order to create conditions for the growth of tourist exchange, the number of flights, a visa-free regime has been introduced between the two countries.
These days, Uzbekistan is represented at a large exhibition at the National Museum of China. In 2027, it is planned to hold art exhibitions in Shanghai and Beijing.
As part of the visit, the historic Agreement on the mutual opening of cultural centers will be adopted.
During the meeting, an exchange of views on the international agenda also took place. The importance of continuing coordination and mutual support within the United Nations, the SCO, the Central Asia - China format and other multilateral platforms was noted.
At the end of the negotiations, the leader of Uzbekistan invited the head of the PRC to visit our country. The meeting was held in a traditionally trusting, open and friendly atmosphere.

Following the results of the negotiations between the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev and the Chairman of the People's Republic of China Xi Jinping in Beijing, a ceremony was held for the exchange of signed bilateral documents. Among them:
- Cooperation program for linking the Uzbekistan 2030 Strategy and the Belt and Road Initiative;
- Agreement on the mutual establishment of cultural centers;
- Agreement on cooperation in the field of medical services.

- on the design of the second stage of the project to provide dredgers to Uzbekistan;
- on technical and economic cooperation;
- on cooperation in the field of conformity assessment;
- on phytosanitary requirements for the export of fresh melons and almonds from Uzbekistan to China;
- on cooperation in the peaceful use of space sciences, technologies and results of space activities;
- on cooperation in the field of competition policy;
- on strengthening cooperation in the field of human resource development;
- on strengthening cooperation in the field of digital economy;
- on the establishment of partnerships between the Samarkand region and the city of Tianjin;
- on cooperation between the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Uzbekistan and the Chinese Council for the Promotion of International Trade.
