The leaders of Uzbekistan and China discussed issues of further expansion of multifaceted relations
On June 17, negotiations between the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev and the Chairman of the People's Republic of China Xi Jinping took place.
Current issues of the bilateral and regional agenda were considered.
The heads of state noted with deep satisfaction that in recent years, Uzbek-Chinese relations of friendship and all-weather comprehensive strategic partnership have reached an unprecedented high level.
The agreements reached during the state visit of the President are being consistently implemented Uzbekistan to China in January 2024.
There has been a noticeable intensification of contacts and exchanges at all levels.
The Strategic Dialogue of Foreign Ministers has been launched. At the beginning of June this year, the second Forum of Regions was successfully held in the city of Samarkand.
Trade, economic, financial and investment interaction is developing dynamically. In 2024, trade turnover reached $14 billion. The portfolio of investment projects exceeds $60 billion.
Joint technology parks and special industrial zones are successfully operating in the regions of our country, and the production of BYD electric vehicles is expanding.
Promising projects in green energy, the oil and gas sector, chemistry, pharmaceuticals, metallurgy, mining, textiles, food and construction are being developed industries, as well as in the field of logistics, smart agriculture, artificial intelligence and digitalization.
Mutually beneficial cooperation is carried out with leading financial institutions of the PRC. Plans have been outlined with the Silk Road Fund to expand the investment platform. With the participation of the Exim Bank of China, the construction of the Olympic village in the capital is being completed. A regional branch of this bank was opened in the city of Tashkent.
Special attention was paid to issues of further deepening cooperation in the fight against poverty.
The leaders also noted the importance of accelerating the construction of the strategic China-Kyrgyzstan-Uzbekistan railway.
Interest in developing exchanges in the fields of education, science, tourism and culture, and personnel training was emphasized and studying the Chinese language.
A branch of the North-West Agricultural and Forestry University of the People's Republic of China is already functioning in Uzbekistan, and an International Mathematical Center has been created on the basis of Urgench University together with Peking University.
Last year the 20th anniversary of the Confucius Institute was celebrated, the Chinese system of professional education "Lu's Workshop" is being introduced Ban."
Next year it is planned to hold cross Weeks of Culture and Art in both countries.
During the meeting, an exchange of views on the international agenda also took place. The importance of continuing coordination and mutual support within the UN, SCO, the Central Asia - China format and other multilateral platforms was noted.
At the end of the negotiations, in the presence of the leaders of Uzbekistan and China, the signing of a Protocol on the completion of bilateral negotiations on Uzbekistan’s accession to the WTO was announced.
