The leaders of Uzbekistan and Finland discussed the possibilities of expanding bilateral cooperation
On September 9, a telephone conversation took place between the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev and the President of Finland Alexander Stubb.
The issues of further expansion of Uzbek-Finnish multifaceted cooperation, primarily in the trade, economic and humanitarian spheres, were thoroughly considered in the context of preparations for the upcoming visit of the President of Finland to Uzbekistan.
The ongoing constructive political contacts and inter-parliamentary exchanges were noted with satisfaction. In 2024, trade turnover increased by 24 percent. Since 2022, the Finnish Nordic University has been successfully operating in our country, and projects are being implemented in the field of development of school education.
Particular attention is paid to the possibilities of establishing cooperation in such areas as agriculture, chemical, energy, mining, telecommunications and other innovative sectors, including the introduction of advanced technologies in the education system.
To prepare specific projects, it was proposed to hold a meeting of the Intergovernmental Commission and a business forum with the participation of leading companies of the two countries.
An exchange of views on the current international agenda took place. The importance of peaceful resolution of conflicts based on international law was emphasized.
