The leaders of Uzbekistan and Azerbaijan held a telephone conversation
The President of the Republic of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev had a telephone conversation with the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev on August 9.
The head of our state cordially congratulated the leader and brotherly people of Azerbaijan on the historic event - the signing of a peace declaration between Azerbaijan and Armenia that took place the day before in Washington.
We expressed confidence that the speedy official conclusion of a peace agreement will be important for ensuring peace, stability and prosperity in the South Caucasus.
Current issues of further development and strengthening of Uzbek-Azerbaijani relations of strategic partnership and alliance were also discussed in the context of the implementation of agreements reached during the state visit of the President of Uzbekistan to Azerbaijan in July this year.
Fruitful contacts and exchanges at all levels continue. Since the beginning of the year, trade turnover has increased by 30 percent. A portfolio of promising cooperation projects in various sectors of the economy is being formed based on the “road map”. Practical work is underway within the framework of the signed Production Sharing Agreement on a strategic project in the oil and gas sector.
The leaders also reviewed the schedule of upcoming meetings and events at the highest level.
