The leaders of Uzbekistan and Azerbaijan discussed current issues on the bilateral agenda
During a telephone conversation on April 26, the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev and the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev discussed issues of further strengthening Uzbek-Azerbaijani relations of friendship, strategic partnership and alliance.
The focus was on the practical implementation of the agreements reached following the state visit of the President of Azerbaijan to Uzbekistan in August last year.
The productive work being carried out within the framework of the Year of Economic Cooperation was noted with particular satisfaction. Trade turnover has increased by 20 percent since the beginning of the year. Projects in the automotive, textile, electrical, energy, agricultural, tourism and other industries are in the active phase.
A rich program of cultural and humanitarian exchange is being jointly implemented.
The importance of careful preparation for the summits planned this year, including the holding of the next meeting of the Intergovernmental Commission, forums was noted regions and rectors, cultural events.
The leaders also exchanged views on the regional agenda, reviewed the schedule of upcoming multilateral events, including within the Organization of Turkic States.
