The Imam Bukhari complex is a symbol of the rich spiritual heritage and creative potential of our people
President Shavkat Mirziyoyev visited the Samarkand region on November 25 to get acquainted with the progress of socio-economic reforms and identify upcoming tasks with the participation of the region’s activists.
According to tradition, the head of our state began his visit to Samarkand with a visit to the mausoleum of Imam Bukhari. The verses of the Koran were read and prayers were said.
On the initiative of the President, this complex was rebuilt on a grandiose scale, which harmoniously combines with the high status and enormous spiritual heritage of our outstanding ancestor-hadith scholar, who occupies an honorable place in the Islamic world.
A majestic building was built on an area of 45 hectares mausoleum, mosque for 10 thousand people, administrative building, museum, entrance and exit aivans. The 75-meter-high minarets located at the four corners of the ensemble give it a special majesty.
Taking into account the fact that this landmark should be not only a place of pilgrimage, but also a center of science, spiritual education and moral example, and the great research, knowledge and intellectual excellence of Imam Bukhari should serve as a noble example for pilgrims, especially for young people, an innovative museum was created in the complex. It personifies the life and scientific heritage of Imam Bukhari, recognized in the Islamic world as the Sultan of Hadith, as well as his contribution to the development of Islamic science and culture.
If earlier the complex could receive 12 thousand visitors a day, now it is possible to serve 65 thousand guests a day with services that meet international standards.
In addition, the International Research Center of Imam Bukhari and the Scientific School of Hadith are located here.
570 billion soums were allocated for the construction of hotels and trade and service facilities on the territory of this pilgrimage center. 1 four-star, 2 three-star and 22 family guest houses were built. The infrastructure is fully equipped with communication networks, the territory is landscaped. By 2026, it is planned to carry out landscaping work on the territory and organize parking lots.
Specially emphasizing that the mausoleum of Imam Bukhari is a vivid symbol of the rich spiritual heritage of our people and its creative potential, the head of our state gave instructions to those responsible for the high-quality and timely completion of the final works on the improvement of the complex.
