Today, across the country, particular attention is being given to improving waterside areas and creating modern infrastructure in such places. Such projects not only contribute to the creation of comfortable public recreation spaces but also open up new opportunities for regional development by unlocking economic potential.
The Karasu Canal embankment in the Urtachirchik district has also become one of these recreational areas. The improvement works, which began last year, cover a 9-kilometer section of the embankment. The project cost is 32 billion soums.
The project is being implemented in two stages. During the first stage, a 1.6-kilometer section of the embankment between the Tinchlik and Karasu mahallas was improved. Residents now have access to modern pedestrian paths, a fountain, workout areas, a water park, and a tunnel beneath the bridge.
Ornamental trees have also been planted, comfortable benches installed, and food and service facilities built.
The next stage envisages the development of entertainment, recreation, and gastronomic streets along the section of the canal passing through the Karasu, Rovotak, and Fayzabad mahallas. The number of trade and service facilities will increase to six, creating 150 new jobs.
