For the first time in history, Uzbekistan is nominating its candidacy for this important position. This initiative is a clear indication of the activity of our country and the high level of trust in it within the framework of international tourism organizations.
The United Nations European Tourism Commission includes 41 countries in Europe, Central and Western Asia. The Commission plays an important role in shaping tourism policy in the European region, strengthening regional cooperation and developing sustainable and inclusive tourism.
The 71st meeting of this commission will be held on June 4-6, 2025 in the Azerbaijani city of Baku. During this meeting, it is planned to elect the President of the UN European Tourism Commission for 2025-2027.
Uzbekistan's nomination for this position is seen as recognition of the country's consistent reforms in the tourism sector, practical steps to strengthen regional cooperation, as well as its contribution to the development of sustainable and inclusive tourism.
By taking this position, Uzbekistan plans to promote new initiatives aimed at popularizing Central Asia as a single tourism space, developing cross-border routes, widespread introduction of digital solutions, as well as strengthening regional dialogue within the framework of the UN World Tourism Organization.
