Heroes of the people are honored and respected
President Shavkat Mirziyoyev visited the Alley of National Heroes in Victory Park.
This memorial, created on the initiative of the head of our state, is dedicated to the memory of military personnel and law enforcement officers who gave their lives to protect our country during the years of independence.
From above, the complex appears in the shape of a crescent and twelve stars, as on the national flag of Uzbekistan. The ribs of the stars, about two meters high, serve as memorial slabs on which the names of 196 heroes are engraved in gold letters. Next to them there are monitors on which materials about the lives of these people are presented in photo and video format: their childhood, dreams, service, families. It’s not just names that come to life here—we are presented with the human history of each of them.
The crescent moon gives the alley the shape of a compact amphitheater, with water flowing from its upper part - a symbol of purity. The artistic concept is completed by a sculptural composition: in the center are depicted parents accompanying their son to military service. On the sides are figures of representatives of the Ministry of Defense, the Ministry of Internal Affairs, the Ministry of Emergency Situations, the Supreme Court, the prosecutor's office, the State Security Service, the Customs Committee and the National Guard.
The President met with the families of fallen servicemen.
— Every year we come here to remember the losses of the Second World War. Now we have created this memorial - in memory of those who fell during the years of independence. It was a noble cause, because they, too, are our national heroes. Therefore, this place has special significance. This is an understanding of one’s identity, this is respect for a personsaid Shavkat Mirziyoyev.
The head of state expressed deep respect to the families of the defenders of the Motherland.
— These brave sons of the people, without thinking about themselves, remained faithful to duty and sacrificed themselves for the peace of people. The fact that today there is a peaceful sky over our country is their great merit. Their families and loved ones should know: they are always with us, their names are in our hearts. I bow my head to the parents, the spouses of these patriots. Let their children be worthy of their heroic fathers, the President said.
The need was noted to hold commemorative events in the areas where national heroes were born, to tell the younger generation about their courage, to write works about exploits that became an example of dedication.
President Shavkat Mirziyoyev also visited the participants of the Second World War and the labor front. At the meeting, the head of state congratulated them on the holiday.
— First of all, I congratulate you and, in your person, all our respected veterans on the 80th anniversary of the Victory. On behalf of the entire people, I express my deep gratitude to you. Thanks to your heroism, today's generation lives in peace and prosperity. We must, through you, convey the value of this world to young people. Your whole life is an example for us, your every word is a great school, a source of wisdom. May the Almighty grant you good health and long life, so that you remain our pride and spiritual support, said Shavkat Mirziyoyev.
The veterans expressed gratitude for the attention and respect for historical memory, for the care shown for the older generation, and read the dua.
In accordance with the Decree of the President of the Republic Uzbekistan on February 19, participants in the war and the labor front are given well-deserved respect. Participants and disabled people of the Second World War are paid one-time monetary rewards in the amount of 10 thousand US dollars, persons equivalent to them - 25 million soums, and participants of the labor front - 3 million soums.
Many veterans were also awarded commemorative medals “80 years of Victory in World War II.”
Medical and social services, including foster care, were organized for war veterans and disabled people. If desired, they undergo treatment in sanatoriums.
With the participation of the heads of relevant ministries, departments, organizations and military units, war and labor veterans, as well as families of military personnel and law enforcement officers who died in the line of duty during the years of independence are provided.
