Cotton yields doubled thanks to advanced technology

President Shavkat Mirziyoyev reviewed the process for growing cotton using Xinjiang technology at the Agroklaster Oltinkul enterprise.

Uzbekistan pays particular attention to developing agriculture, introducing advanced technologies into the sector, and applying scientific advances and approaches in production.

The resolution of the Head of State of December 9, 2025, aimed at increasing yields in cotton and grain production, has become an important legal basis for expanding this work.

Using the Xinjiang method in cotton production makes it possible not only to significantly increase yields but also to save water, fertilizers, and other resources and reduce the cost of crop care.

The total cultivated area of Agroklaster Oltinkul is 850 hectares. Cotton is grown using the Xinjiang method on 23 hectares.

With the Xinjiang technology, cotton seeds are sown under plastic film in two rows. This practice helps maintain stable soil moisture and temperature, ensuring early and uniform seed germination.

Through drip irrigation and fertigation systems, water and fertilizer are delivered directly to cotton roots. As a result, resource use decreases: water savings reach 40 percent, while fertilizer use drops by nearly 30 percent.

While traditional cultivation methods yield an average of 30-35 centners of cotton per hectare, the use of Xinjiang technology increases this to 60-70 centners. Thanks to the favorable microclimate created under the film, the crop can be harvested 10-15 days earlier than in conventional fields.

Most of the agrotechnical work at the enterprise is carried out using agricultural drones. This significantly reduces the need for specialized machinery and fuel use. 

The Head of State was briefed on the project’s results, its economic efficiency, and plans to expand the use of this technology.
