Activists and members of trade unions of Uzbekistan
Dear compatriots!
I sincerely congratulate you, all members of the largest civil institution in the country, on Trade Union Day - November 11 and I express my deep respect and best wishes.
Holding this holiday on the days when we widely celebrate the 120th anniversary of the trade union movement of Uzbekistan certainly gives it a special mood and solemnity.
We all understand well that New Uzbekistan is, first of all, a state in which human life, his health, rights and interests, honor and dignity are under reliable protection of the law.
In creating a new society, a new state in the country, more than a century of experience of trade unions, uniting about eight million members in their ranks, in protecting rights and interests, ensuring the principles of justice and equality in the world of work is extremely important for us.
Deeply aware of this, trade union activists show special dedication in implementing programs in the social sphere, especially in poverty reduction, ensuring employment, protecting the interests of young people, respected representatives of the older generation, our dear women.
It is noteworthy that in the last 5 years alone, thanks to your efforts, the rights of about 500 thousand citizens have been restored, about 20 thousand public control and audit measures in the field of gender equality have been carried out at enterprises and institutions, more than 21 thousand shortcomings in labor protection have been eliminated, about 1 million workers and members of their families have improved their health in sanatoriums, 1,200 war and labor veterans, opportunities for summer recreation for more than 800 thousand children have been created.
The scale of the Federation's activities is also evidenced by the strengthening partnership of the country's trade unions with related organizations of foreign countries and international structures, membership in almost ten international and regional organizations.
Dear friends!
At a recent meeting with you, which was held in the format of an open dialogue and became a bright page in the history of the movement, we discussed in detail analyzed the activities of the Federation of Trade Unions of Uzbekistan, its sectoral and territorial branches, and identified specific tasks for the future.
During this meeting, I got acquainted with your initiatives to expand social partnership in many areas, establish effective public control, strengthen the system for ensuring professional and labor rights of workers of all enterprises and organizations, regardless of the form of ownership, especially informally employed citizens, women and youth, in general, to prevent informal employment, and was once again convinced that today workers in the sphere, like all our people, live with high goals.
Of course, in the current difficult time, full of socio-economic contradictions, it will not be easy to implement such large-scale tasks. To do this, first of all, taking into account the formation of new relations in the labor market in the context of the accelerated development of the “green” economy and artificial intelligence, the establishment of platform employment in dozens of professions, it is necessary to enshrine in legislation specific legal norms for ensuring labor rights, life insurance and safety, and on this basis, make the transition to a new work order.
The urgent task for the next five years is also the implementation of international labor standards in national legislation and their implementation in the life of society, the development of a Decent Work Program for 2026–2030 and the determination of strategic directions for the activities of trade unions for the next five years.
I am confident that our selfless activists and members of trade unions of Uzbekistan, who have dedicated their lives to protecting human interests, have been fruitfully working in the field for many years, will work selflessly, using all their knowledge and rich experience to effectively implement these tasks.
At this extremely important stage of development, we, in turn, are ready to create additional conditions and opportunities for even closer interaction between trade unions and government bodies in improving labor relations in country.
Dear compatriots!
Once again I sincerely congratulate you on the wonderful trade union holiday, I wish you all health, great success in your honorable activities, peace and prosperity to your families.
Shavkat Mirziyoyev,
President of the Republic of Uzbekistan
