The tourism potential of Uzbekistan was prominently presented at the international “Global Destinations Expo”, held in the capital of Pakistan.
The Expo, organized by the Pakistan Tourism Development Corporation in collaboration with the leading television channel “Discover Pakistan”, hosted delegations from more than 20 foreign embassies and international organizations accredited in Islamabad.
At the Uzbekistan Pavilion, visitors were offered a comprehensive showcase of the country’s rich historical and cultural heritage, highlighting Uzbekistan’s tourism potential. The exhibition featured information on pilgrimage tourism opportunities, as well as insights into national traditions, traditional clothing, and cuisine.
Among the visitors to the Uzbekistan Pavilion were Sardar Yasir Ilyas Khan, Special Coordinator for Tourism to the Prime Minister of Pakistan; Usman Shaukat, Chairman of the Rawalpindi Chamber of Commerce and Industry; Aftab ur-Rehman Rana, President at Sustainable Tourism Foundation Pakistan as well as several ambassadors from foreign countries. They expressed their appreciation to the Uzbek representatives for their participation in the Expo and highlighted that the Uzbekistan Pavilion stood out as the most vibrant and well-attended exhibition space at the event.
- Thanks to centuries-old ties, shared history, and common values, public interest in traveling to Uzbekistan from Pakistan is growing every day, - said Sardar Yasir Ilyas Khan, Special Coordinator for Tourism to the Prime Minister of Pakistan. - Undoubtedly, the simplified tourist visa procedures for Pakistani citizens and the availability of direct flights between our countries have played a significant role in this. After all, no matter how much we talk about developing tourism and increasing tourist flows, if the countries are not connected by direct flights and travel facilitation is not ensured, we must acknowledge that we will never achieve our goals. We are ready to mobilize all our resources and efforts to develop tourism cooperation with Uzbekistan and work together to increase tourist exchanges.
During the event, Hamid Mahmud, Ambassador of the Uzbekistan Tourism Brand to Pakistan, delivered a presentation on the country’s tourism potential. He introduced the guests to Uzbekistan’s rich cultural heritage, modern tourism infrastructure, hotels, craft centers, and facilities developed specifically for international visitors.
The Expo also provided a platform for productive discussions with representatives of several Pakistani tourism companies. At the closing ceremony of the Global Destinations Expo, the participation of each country was formally assessed. In particular, the Uzbekistan Pavilion was recognized as the best pavilion of the exhibition and was awarded a special certificate in acknowledgment of its excellence.
