Uzbekistan and Slovakia elevate relations to a new stage of cooperation and establish a strategic partnership

On June 9, the official welcoming ceremony for the Prime Minister of the Slovak Republic Robert Fico, who is paying an official visit to our country, was held at the "Kuksaroy" residence.
A guard of honor was lined up on the square in front of the residence. President of the Republic of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev warmly welcomed the distinguished guest and invited him to the pedestal.
The national anthems of Uzbekistan and Slovakia were played by a military band. The leaders went around the guard of honor and greeted members of official delegations.
At the end of the ceremony and joint photography, the high-level talks began.

On June 9, President of the Republic of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev and Prime Minister of the Slovak Republic Robert Fico held talks at "Kuksaroy" residence.
Topical issues of further development of practical cooperation between Uzbekistan and Slovakia were discussed.
At the beginning of the meeting, the President of Uzbekistan emphasized that the current visit opens a qualitatively new stage in the history of Uzbek-Slovak multifaceted relations.
The dynamic development of interaction in all areas has been noted with satisfaction. Constructive political contacts have been established at the level of Foreign Ministries, business and humanitarian exchanges have intensified.
Trade turnover is growing. The first meeting of the Intergovernmental Commission was fruitfully held in May. A number of new areas and projects of cooperation are being elaborated.
In view of modern challenges and unpredictable international situation, the importance of systemic interaction, coordination and support through foreign policy bodies, including in the framework of partnership with the European institutions was emphasized.
Special attention was paid to the issues of increasing trade turnover, primarily by expanding the range of mutual supplies.
Within the framework of practical implementation of the signed agreements in the field of technical regulation and metrology, the importance of eliminating technical barriers and launching a quantum standard laboratory was noted.
An agreement was reached to prepare a full-scale Industrial Cooperation Program with leading Slovak companies, including implementing projects in the agro-industrial complex, localization of automotive components, production of pharmaceuticals, as well as in the field of “green” energy and tourism.
There are great opportunities in the sphere of implementation of digital solutions and startup investments. In this context, it was proposed to elaborate the creation of a joint venture fund for accelerating IT-startups.
To support joint projects, it was also proposed to widely use the available financial instruments.
In the humanitarian sphere, mutual interest in the development of educational and academic exchange was confirmed. An agreement was reached to launch joint research programs, including with the participation of Comenius University in Bratislava.
The sides agreed to adopt a program of cooperation in the field of culture, which envisages mutual exhibitions, film screenings, concerts, as well as projects in the field of museums.
Special attention was paid to the issues of organized labor migration. The high interest of the Slovak side in establishing systematic cooperation in this area was noted.
An exchange of views on the issues of international agenda, including mutual support at multilateral platforms also took place.
In conclusion an agreement was reached to adopt a comprehensive “road map” with an aim to ensure timely and quality implementation of the decisions reached and agreements signed between the governments of the two countries.

Following the talks held in Tashkent, President of the Republic of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev and Prime Minister of the Slovak Republic Robert Fico signed a joint declaration on the establishment of strategic partnership relations.
In the presence of the leaders a ceremony of exchange of bilateral agreements was also held, in particular:
- on training of diplomatic personnel;
- on cooperation in the field of agriculture;
- on cooperation in the field of standardization, metrology and conformity assessment of goods;
- on cooperation in the regulation of energy markets;
- Program of Cooperation between the Ministries of Foreign Affairs for 2025-2026;
- Program of cooperation in the field of standardization for 2025-2026.

As a result of Uzbek-Slovak summit talks President of the Republic of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev and Prime Minister of the Slovak Republic Robert Fico together planted a tree on the Alley of Honored Guests.
The ceremony became a symbol of growing friendship and mutual understanding between the peoples of the two countries, marked the beginning of a new stage in the development of Uzbek-Slovak relations of strategic partnership.
