Fruitful Uzbek-Turkmen negotiations held in Samarkand

On April 23 National Leader of the Turkmen people, Chairman of the Khalk Maslakhaty of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov arrived with a visit to Uzbekistan.
The high guest was met by the Head of our state at the international airport of Samarkand, solemnly decorated with the national flags of the two countries.
According to the program of the stay, the two leaders are expected to hold a bilateral meeting and participate jointly in cultural events.

On April 24, President of the Republic of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev and the National Leader of the Turkmen people, Chairman of the Khalk Maslakhaty of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov held talks at the Congress Center of “Silk Road Samarkand” complex with the participation of official delegations.
At the beginning of the meeting, the leader of Turkmenistan conveyed greetings and best wishes of the President of Turkmenistan Serdar Berdimuhamedov to the Head of our state.
Topical issues of further development and strengthening of Uzbek-Turkmen relations of friendship, good-neighborliness and strategic partnership were discussed.
The dynamic development of multifaceted cooperation in all areas of interaction, including political, inter-parliamentary, trade and economic, transport and communication, cultural and humanitarian spheres, has been noted with deep satisfaction.
A fruitful dialogue is maintained at all levels. Meetings of the Intergovernmental Commission, Business Council, Forum of Regions, cultural days, exhibitions, and others are regularly organized. Last year mutual trade turnover amounted to $1.1 billion. Trade houses have been established in the capitals, the volumes of cargo transportation are growing. The task has been set to bring the trade volume up to $2 billion in the coming years.
Mutually beneficial cooperation in the spheres of energy, transportation, agriculture, water management and other sectors of economy is developing. The “Shavat-Dashoguz” cross-border trade zone is jointly established.
Active interregional contacts have been established and a rich program of cultural and humanitarian exchange is being implemented.
An agreement has been reached to hold the third Forum of Regions in Khiva and Days of Turkmen Culture in Uzbekistan this year.
The leaders of Uzbekistan and Turkmenistan have also exchanged views on the agenda of regional partnership, including preparations for the upcoming summits in the “Central Asia Plus” format and the seventh Consultative Meeting of Central Asian Heads of State in Tashkent.
The Uzbek leader emphasized the importance of the upcoming forum in Ashgabat in December this year within the framework of the International Year of Peace and Confidence, declared by the United Nations General Assembly on Turkmenistan's initiative, as well as other international events.
During the meeting, the President of Uzbekistan presented the National Leader of the Turkmen people with a copy of his book “The Pearl of Reason” in Uzbek language, published in our country.

At the end of the bilateral talks, the National Leader of the Turkmen people, Chairman of the Khalk Maslakhaty of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov was presented with the highest state award of the Republic of Uzbekistan - the Order “Oliy Darajali Do‘stlik”.
Presenting the award, the Head of our state emphasized Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov's great merits in strengthening traditional relations of friendship, good-neighborliness and strategic partnership between the two brotherly countries.
- All grandiose achievements, large-scale transformations and growth of the authority of brotherly Turkmenistan in the international arena are firmly linked to your name, - emphasized the President of Uzbekistan.
Turkmenistan's economy has been steadily growing, the welfare of the population has been consistently improving. The leader of our country particularly emphasized the international initiatives of the National Leader of the Turkmen people aimed at ensuring global security and sustainable development.
In this regard, it was noted that Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov's proposal to declare 2025 the Year of Peace and Trust received wide international support.
It was emphasized that owing to the personal efforts of the leader of Turkmenistan, Uzbek-Turkmen relations have reached the highest level today, becoming truly exemplary.
- Thanks to your personal support, solid foundations of strategic partnership between our countries were laid in 2017, - said Shavkat Mirziyoyev.
Active contacts at the level of parliaments, governments, regions, business, public, intellectuals and youth of our countries, implementation of trade and economic cooperation programs and projects were noted with satisfaction. Thus, only in recent years the trade turnover has increased many times and exceeded $1 billion.
Cultural and humanitarian interaction deserves high appreciation. In this context, the presentation of a collection of works by Magtymguly in Uzbek in Ashgabat and Tashkent last year, as well as the premiere of a joint Uzbek-Turkmen feature film at the international film festival in Ashgabat were highlighted.
It was emphasized that the awarding of the highest honor of the Republic of Uzbekistan was an expression of sincere respect of the multinational Uzbek people for Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov as an outstanding statesman, national leader and architect of modern Turkmenistan.

The ceremony became a symbol of the centuries-old friendship and good-neighborliness of the two fraternal peoples, and a firm commitment to the further development of Uzbek-Turkmen relations of strategic partnership.

President of the Republic of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev and the National Leader of the Turkmen people, Chairman of the Khalk Maslakhaty of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov visited the “Mirages of Time” exhibition organized at the international touristic center in Samarkand.
The main element of the exposition was presented to the guests - the night desert, in the starry sky over which appear the Zodiac signs, Ulugbek's map of the starry sky, meridians. The viewer walks through the dunes like a caravan on the Great Silk Road. Along the route, as by the clock of time, a full account of the civilization development history is created.
Scenes with participation of Uzbek and Turkmen performers playing dutar and tambura, reciting poems of great poets Navoi and Magtymguly were also shown.
Special effects and theatrical performances were widely used in the innovative presentation, which attracted great interest among the visitors.

In the framework of the two-day program President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev and the high guest held bilateral talks, visited a historic and ethnographic complex “Eternal City” and got acquainted with the “Mirages of Time” exhibition.
A ceremony of awarding the National Leader of the Turkmen people with the “Oliy Darajali Do‘stlik” order of the Republic of Uzbekistan was held.
At the end of the visit, the distinguished guest was seen off by the Head of our state at the Samarkand International Airport.
Then President Shavkat Mirziyoyev returned to Tashkent.
