New Andijan to be named after the great Babur

Andijan is the country's most densely populated city: 10 percent of Uzbekistan's population lives in just 1 percent of its territory. In this regard, on the initiative of the President, construction of a new city was launched in 2021. During the current trip, the Head of State got acquainted with the first results of the realization of this large-scale project.
The city is being built on a free, previously unused for agriculture territory of 4 thousand hectares in Andijan district. The construction will be carried out in eight stages. To date, 63 multi-storey buildings for 1,770 apartments have been commissioned. A school for 1,680 places, a kindergarten for 420 places, a polyclinic for 250 appointments per shift, a light industry enterprise and a mortgage center have also been built.
The President walked through the territory of the new city and inspected the constructed facilities.
Many apartments have already been occupied. The joy of children on playgrounds fills the atmosphere with special warmth and coziness. Construction continues at an accelerated pace - this year it is planned to build 40 more multi-storey houses for more than 1 thousand apartments.
The objects are provided with the necessary infrastructure - roads, electricity, natural gas, water supply and heating. A water reservoir and a distribution station with a capacity of 4 thousand cubic meters for drinking water supply have been put into operation.
The “Yangi Uzbekiston” park has been laid out on an area of 19 hectares, where over 10 thousand ornamental trees, shrubs and flowers have been planted. The park has an amphitheater, recreation areas, walkways, cafes, playgrounds and a modern lighting system. This park will become one of the decorations of New Andijan.
The park “Vatanparvar” located here has a special symbolic significance. The monument “Oath to Motherland”, museum, concert and spectacle grounds will make a deep impression on the guests.
The project is characterized by great scope. On the territory of 1,439 hectares it is planned to erect 2 thousand apartment houses. In addition, commercial and service facilities will be built, as well as green areas will be arranged on the area of 1,820 hectares. After completion of construction the city will be able to accommodate over 410 thousand residents.
New improvement projects were also presented here. In particular, it is planned to reconstruct the park named after Alisher Navoi and install a monument to Zahiriddin Muhammad Babur. The President emphasized the importance of creating an authentic image of Babur and transforming the adjacent territory into a theme park dedicated to the Baburid heritage.
The Head of State also viewed exhibitions of folk crafts, decorative and applied arts. He proposed an initiative to organize an annual festival of artists in Andijan.

On April 15, President Shavkat Mirziyoyev visited public festivities organized in “Yangi Uzbekiston” park in Andijan.
During the conversation with the youth, the Head of State expressed sincere trust to the younger generation:
- One of the main objectives of our state – youth policy. Everything we do in education, mahallas, employment, sport – for the benefit of our children. The youth of Uzbekistan is talented and capable. But when does talent unfold? When there is labor. Those who strive for knowledge and work on themselves will never remain idle. Learn, develop, master modern professions. To be happy tomorrow, you need to lay the foundation today, - said Shavkat Mirziyoyev.
The President also met with representatives of different nationalities living in Andijan, emphasizing that peace and interethnic harmony are the country's greatest wealth.
A festive concert was held in the amphitheater of the park. In his speech, the President expressed deep respect for the people of the region: - The main goal of the reforms carried out in the New Uzbekistan is to ensure the rights, interests and dignity of the individual, the entire nation, on this basis - to increase people's satisfaction with their lives. We see the practical results of such large-scale and noble endeavors in all provinces, villages and villages of our Motherland, and this, of course, pleases all of us, - he noted.
Andijan region vividly confirms it in practice. Industry, entrepreneurship, agriculture, improvement of streets and mahallas are actively developing in the region, decent working and living conditions are being created for the population.
- On the land of Andijan, the idea of New Uzbekistan, the breath of New Uzbekistan come to every mahalla, every family. This is the biggest, most important result of reforms that we and all our people have been waiting for, - emphasized the President.
Andijan is one of the most ancient cities of the country and the pearl of the Fergana Valley. Nowadays, large-scale projects are being actively implemented here, new opportunities are being created. Among them is the construction of a new city. In a short time, a modern park “Yangi Uzbekiston” has also been created here.
The President expressed gratitude to all who made a contribution to these changes.
Andijan is also famous for being the birthplace of Zahiriddin Muhammad Babur. In this regard, Shavkat Mirziyoyev proposed to name the new city after Babur. This initiative was warmly supported by the residents of the region.
- Babur Mirzo is a worthy successor of the Temurid Renaissance, a great personality - patron of science, culture, art and literature, human talent. His unique heritage has glorified our nation throughout the world. The construction of the city bearing his name will be a symbolic fulfillment of the great ancestor's dream, - noted the President.
A large-scale educational cluster with kindergartens, schools, a university, a museum, a library and an IT park will be built in the new city. The university will include a modern sports complex of international level.
The city of Babur will become a spiritual center reflecting national values, a source of inspiration for the youth, a new tourist and cultural center, as well as a “smart city” with advanced technologies.
This city, like Navoi, named after the great poet and philosopher, will be a bridge between our glorious history and the future. A new, majestic monument to Zahiriddin Muhammad Babur will be set up on the highest point of the park.
To implement these plans, a special program with funding of $250 million will be adopted.
- It is known that no matter where in the world, no matter what country Zahiriddin Muhammad Babur was in, he longed for his native land all his life. I think you will agree that today the dream of our great ancestor has come true, it is as if he has returned to his Motherland again. I congratulate all of us on this historic event! - said the President.
In conclusion, the Head of State cordially congratulated the workers of culture and art on their professional holiday celebrated on April 15.
