Leaders of Uzbekistan and Kuwait agree to develop a comprehensive partnership

At the invitation of Emir of Kuwait Sheikh Meshal Al-Sabah, President of the Republic of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev arrived in this country on February 17.
Emir Sheikh Meshal Al-Sabah, Crown Prince Sheikh Sabah Khaled Al-Hamad Al-Sabah and other officials greeted the Head of our state at the Kuwait International Airport.
In honor of the arrival of the Uzbek leader, a guard of honor was lined up, national flags were raised, and national anthems of the two countries were played.
The President of our country went around the guard of honor. Then, the heads of state greeted members of official delegations and representatives of the diplomatic corps.
A brief conversation between the leaders took place at the Emir's airport terminal.
Today, the President of Uzbekistan and the Emir of Kuwait will hold summit talks. The summit agenda includes issues of further deepening Uzbek-Kuwaiti relations of friendship and multifaceted partnership, expansion of interaction in political, trade-economic, investment-financial and cultural-humanitarian spheres.
A number of intergovernmental and interagency agreements are expected to be adopted following the results of the events.

On February 17 President of the Republic of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev and Emir of the State of Kuwait Sheikh Meshal Al-Sabah held a bilateral meeting and negotiations with the participation of members of official delegations at the Al-Bayan Palace in the city of Al Kuwait.
At the beginning of the conversation, the Head of our state expressed sincere gratitude to the Emir for the warm welcome and high attention, warmly congratulating the leader and friendly people of Kuwait on the upcoming national holidays.
Issues of further developing and strengthening Uzbek-Kuwaiti relations of friendship and multifaceted partnership have been discussed.
The President of Uzbekistan highlighted the successful implementation of the state program “Vision 2035” in Kuwait, the goals and objectives of which are consonant with the long-term priorities of the New Uzbekistan Development Strategy.
Intensive political contacts and interagency exchanges, steady growth of mutual trade turnover and investments have been noted with satisfaction.
Last year, the first meeting of the Intergovernmental Commission was fruitfully held, and a number of significant business events were organized.
Special attention was paid to the issues of interaction in trade and economic, investment, innovation and financial-technical spheres.
The priority areas of practical cooperation are defined to be: “green” energy, industrial cooperation, agriculture, transportation and logistics, infrastructure, urban development, health care, tourism.
In order to promote joint projects, it was agreed to establish such mechanisms as the Investment Platform and the Business Council, as well as to open a trading house in the city of Al Kuwait.
Special attention was paid to expanding the portfolio of projects with the Kuwait Fund for Arab Economic Development within the framework of the new Partnership Program.
In addition, it was agreed to hold cross cultural and tourism weeks in Uzbekistan and Kuwait, actively promote the participation of representatives of the two countries in cultural and humanitarian events in the field of art, music, cinema, education and sports.
During the meeting, the importance of continuing mutual support within the framework of the United Nations, the Organization of Islamic Cooperation, the Shanghai Cooperation Organization, the Non-Aligned Movement and other authoritative structures was stressed.
Joint measures on preparation and holding of the upcoming summit of the “Central Asia - Gulf Cooperation Council” dialogue scheduled for May this year in Samarkand were discussed.
The leaders also exchanged views on topical aspects of the international and regional agenda.
Following the talks, the two heads of state made a decision to develop and strengthen the comprehensive partnership.
In the conclusion of the talks, the President of Uzbekistan invited the Emir of Kuwait to pay a visit to our country.

The following documents were also signed:
- Agreement on cooperation in the field of industry;
- Protocol to the Agreement on Air Services;
- Agreement on cooperation in the labor sphere;
- Agreement on cooperation in the field of creation of “smart” cities;
- Agreement on Cooperation in the field of art and culture;
- Agreement on cooperation in the field of health care;
- Program of activities in the field of tourism for 2025-2027;
- Cooperation Agreement with the Kuwait Fund for Arab Economic Development.

President of the Republic of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev met with a delegation headed by acting Prime Minister and Minister of Interior Sheikh Fahad al-Sabah at the residence allocated for him on February 17 as part of his program of stay in Kuwait.
The Kuwaiti side was also represented at the meeting by Minister of Finance and Investment Noura Sulaiman Al-Fassam, Minister of Commerce and Industry Khalifa Abdullah Al-Askar and Director of the Investment Agency Sheikh Saoud Al-Sabah.
Practical implementation of the agreements reached at the end of the summit talks held today was discussed.
Deep satisfaction was expressed over the fruitful results of the meeting between the leaders of the two states, which has brought Uzbek-Kuwaiti relations to the level of comprehensive partnership.
Joint preparations for the upcoming visit of the Emir of Kuwait to Uzbekistan to participate in the summit “Central Asia - Cooperation Council for the Arab States of the Gulf” have been emphasized.
The development of trade-economic and investment ties was identified as a priority task.
In this context, the creation of a Joint Investment Platform and Business Council, as well as support and promotion of projects in such sectors as agriculture, logistics and transportation, hydropower, infrastructure, healthcare, pharmaceuticals and others have been pointed out.
An agreement was reached to organize active contacts and mutual visits to promote joint programs and cooperation projects included in the roadmap.

Issues of continuing active political dialogue, enhancing trade, economic, investment and financial cooperation in the context of the agreements reached during the current historic visit to Kuwait.
Deep satisfaction has been expressed with the decision taken at the highest level on the development of Uzbek-Kuwaiti relations of comprehensive partnership.
The importance of organizing regular inter-ministerial consultations and joint preparations for the “Central Asia-Gulf Cooperation Council” summit in Samarkand has been underscored.
The signing of a new Cooperation Program with the Kuwait Fund for Arab Economic Development within the framework of the visit was noted with satisfaction.
Special attention was paid to the promotion of projects in food security, industrial cooperation, infrastructure, tourism and other areas, as well as the establishment of direct air transportation between the countries.

During the visit’s program President of the Republic of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev toured the Al-Salam Palace Museum in the city of Al Kuwait.
The palace was built in 1960-1964 in a unique Arab architecture style and until 1990 was used as an official residence for foreign leaders paying visits to Kuwait.
In 2019, a museum was opened in the palace, where collections of unique artifacts reflecting centuries-old history and culture of Kuwait are presented on an area of 32 thousand square meters.
The Leader of Uzbekistan familiarized himself with the museum's exposition, highly appreciated its architectural concept and modern infrastructure.
Importance of expanding Uzbek-Kuwaiti cultural exchanges, particularly in the field of museums and preservation of historical heritage, implementation of joint humanitarian programs and organization of mutual exhibitions has been noted.
In conclusion, the President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev left an entry in the Book of Honorary Guests of the museum.

On February 18, within the framework of the second day of the program in Al Kuwait President of the Republic of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev met with Sheikh Sabah Al-Sabah, Crown Prince of this country.
Issues of further development and strengthening of Uzbek-Kuwaiti relations of friendship and comprehensive partnership were discussed.
At the beginning of the conversation, the Leader of Uzbekistan expressed sincere gratitude to the Crown Prince for the cordial reception and special attention.
It was emphasized that the historic high-level talks held the previous day, fruitful meetings with members of the government and leading companies form a solid foundation for expanding Uzbek-Kuwaiti multifaceted relations.
It was agreed to continue close contacts and exchanges at the highest and high level. Agreements have been reached on the early launch of the Platform for attracting investments, implementation of cooperation projects in agro-industrial complex, transportation and logistics, healthcare, education, pharmaceuticals, infrastructure and other areas.
Particular attention was paid to the issues of mutual support of initiatives within the framework of the “Central Asia-Gulf Cooperation Council" dialogue.

Events of the first official visit of President of the Republic of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev to the State of Kuwait have come to an end.
As part of the program of his stay in the city of Al Kuwait, the Leader of Uzbekistan held historic talks with Emir Sheikh Meshal Al-Sabah, and Crown Prince Sheikh Sabah Al-Sabah, as well as fruitful meetings with key members of the Government and heads of leading companies and financial institutions of this country.
The summit resulted in the adoption of a joint statement, as well as signing a solid package of agreements in various areas of cooperation, including in the economic sphere for the amount of $4.9 billion.
As part of the cultural program, the leader of our country toured the expositions of the Al-Salam Palace Museum, reflecting the culture and history of the Kuwaiti people.
At the end of the visit, the President of Uzbekistan was escorted by Crown Prince Sheikh Sabah Al-Sabah and other officials at the Kuwait International Airport.
The Head of our state left for the city of Tashkent.
