Plans for infrastructure development in Tashkent discussed

President Shavkat Mirziyoyev was presented with information on the comprehensive development of the capital city and the improvement of its industrial and transport infrastructure.
During the presentation, plans for the further development of the “Yangi Avlod” Special Industrial Zone were reviewed.
This zone, established on an area of 774 hectares, is being actively developed: 28 projects worth a total of $800 million are currently being implemented on 268 hectares. Another 30 projects, for which investors have already been identified, will be located on 300 hectares, with total investments amounting to $400 million.
The importance of expanding the industrial zone, establishing new production facilities, creating jobs, and launching the manufacture of high-value-added products was emphasized.
For instance, the construction of a multimodal logistics terminal worth $288 million is planned within the industrial zone.
The project will be implemented in cooperation with the Dubai-based company DP World. Once the terminal becomes operational, the logistics potential of the capital and the Tashkent region will expand significantly, enabling faster export and import operations.
The upcoming work on the development of Tashkent’s road and transport infrastructure was also discussed at the meeting. In particular, taking into account the experience gained from the reconstruction of Shota Rustaveli Street, Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) projects will be launched on ten more streets across the city.
Measures to ensure road traffic safety, regulate transportation flows, and improve the architectural appearance of the capital based on a unified design code were also considered.
It was reported that next year, 1 trillion UZS will be allocated from the local budget for the improvement of mahallas, the construction of gastronomic streets, and the modernization of irrigation systems.
The President emphasized that the ongoing transformations in Tashkent must be aimed at creating a comfortable and modern urban environment, fostering economic growth, and promoting entrepreneurship.
During the presentation, information was also provided on major projects in other regions of the country. In particular, plans were reviewed for expanding the city of Bukhara’s capacity to receive and serve tourists.
