Festive Message to the People of Uzbekistan

Dear compatriots!
From the bottom of my heart, I congratulate you – our entire multinational people – on the sacred holiday, the Day of Remembrance and Honor, and on the 80th anniversary of the Great Victory in the Second World War. I extend to you my deep respect and warmest wishes.
In these joyful yet solemn moments, we remember our fathers and grandfathers who made a worthy contribution to the liberation of humanity from fascism, and we bow our heads in tribute to their bright memory.
We express special gratitude and congratulations to our esteemed war and labor veterans, who today, with their wise advice, actively participate in building the New Uzbekistan.
Undoubtedly, on this bright holiday that glorifies the defenders of our peaceful and tranquil life, we consider it our duty and honor to pay tribute to the brave servicemen who heroically fell in the years of independence for the sake of our Motherland’s freedom and the well-being of our people.
Dear friends!
The heavy suffering, countless hardships, and losses inflicted upon the peoples of the world, including our own, by the most devastating war in human history – the Second World War – will never be forgotten.
It is a chronicle of true courage and heroism whose greatness stands the test of time.
We are justly proud of our steadfast people, who made a valuable contribution to this glorious victory.
In recent years, thanks to the research of our scholars and specialists, previously unknown pages of the history of the Second World War are being revealed.
According to documentary evidence, of the 6.8 million people living in our republic at the time, nearly 2 million participated in the bloody battles against fascism. Around 540,000 of them perished at the front, 158,000 went missing, more than 50,000 were tortured in concentration camps, and over 60,000 returned home disabled.
About 214,000 soldiers and officers from Uzbekistan were awarded military orders and medals, 301 were granted the high title of Hero of the Soviet Union, and more than 70 received all three classes of the Order of Glory. All of this is undoubtedly a testament to the recognition of the courage and bravery shown by our compatriots on the war fronts.
Another unforgettable chapter of those turbulent times is how Uzbekistan became a reliable rear during the war, ensuring the delivery of military equipment, weapons, medicines, clothing, food, and other essential supplies to the front.
Over 170 factories and plants were relocated here from front-line areas, and 280 new enterprises were built in a short period of time.
Our people, despite facing the hardships of wartime themselves, opened their arms with sincere love and care to nearly 1.5 million evacuees from war-torn regions – including 250,000 children who had lost their parents.
Today, as we recall these historical facts inscribed forever in the pages of history, we rightfully admire the true humanism and high moral values of our generous and tolerant people, who remained faithful to their noble convictions in all circumstances.
Dear compatriots!
In recent years, we have been carrying out significant work to study and widely publicize the lives and deeds of our heroic ancestors, their examples of courage and resilience, as well as to raise younger generations in the spirit of these glorious traditions.
An important role in this is played by the Victory Park established in Tashkent and the Vatanparvar Gardens (Patriotic Gardens) in the regions, which have quickly become places of reverence for both our citizens and foreign guests.
Equally significant is the “Millat Fidoyilari” (Devoted to the Nation) memorial complex, built within Victory Park in honor of the defenders of the Motherland. It stands as a continuation of our efforts in this direction.
I am confident that this memorial, where the names of hundreds of fallen brave servicemen and law enforcement officers are engraved in gold letters, will become another sacred place that our compatriots will visit with pride in their hearts.
Dear friends!
Today, the noble principle “For the sake of the people, for the sake of their happiness” is becoming ever more deeply rooted in our lives.
As a manifestation of this care and attention, this year each participant and disabled veteran of the Second World War is being granted a one-time monetary award of 10,000 US dollars, while individuals equated with this category will receive 25 million soums, labor front workers – 3 million soums, and the jubilee medal “80th Anniversary of Victory in the Second World War.”
Veterans and disabled individuals of the war are also provided with medical and social services, including home care. Those who wish to do so are treated in sanatoriums.
During these celebratory days, our people visit representatives of the older generation – respected veterans of war and labor – and receive their blessings.
Visits to war and labor veterans, and the families of military personnel and law enforcement officers who died in the line of duty during the years of independence, are being organized with the participation of heads of relevant ministries, departments, organizations, and military units. They are provided with necessary assistance and support.
Undoubtedly, we are eternally indebted to these noble individuals who fought for our present peace and freedom, not sparing their lives. They will continue to be surrounded with love and care from our state and society.
Dear compatriots!
In today's complex and challenging time, the courage and resilience displayed by our fathers and grandfathers – the heroes of the Second World War – will serve as an example, a source of strength and inspiration in raising our youth to be well-rounded individuals, in maintaining peace and stability in the country, and in preserving interethnic and interfaith tolerance and harmony.
Once again, I sincerely congratulate you – our respected veterans and the entire nation – on this holiday. I wish you health, prosperity, and well-being for your families.
May peace and tranquility always reign in our country, and may our people live in happiness!
