President of Uzbekistan points out the significance of expanding full-scale cooperation with the Islamic Development Bank
As part of the program of his working visit to Baku, President of the Republic of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev met with President of the Islamic Development Bank Muhammad bin Sulaiman al-Jasser.
The sides discussed ways to expand cooperation with this leading international financial institution.
The Head of our state highly appreciated the dynamic development of partnership with the IDB. In March this year, a meeting of the Arab Coordination Group headed by the Bank was successfully held in Tashkent with the participation of leading financial institutions of the Islamic world.
The project portfolio with the IDB has exceeded $4 billion, 40 percent of which is accounted for the private sector.
The capital of the joint Economic Empowerment Fund of Uzbekistan established with the Bank's participation, is consistently being formed.
Particular attention was paid to expanding practical interaction on implementation of new projects and programs in education, healthcare, infrastructure, ecology, entrepreneurship, mobilization of private investments, active involvement of the bank's structures in project activities.
The sides also exchanged views on the matter of IDB's participation in financing large investment projects in industry and extractive sector of our country.
