Meeting with the Special Assistant to the Prime Minister of Pakistan
On October 6, 2022, a meeting with the Special Assistant to the Prime Minister with the status of Minister of State of Pakistan Sheikh Shah Muhammad Owais Noorani Siddiqui, the son of the founder of the World Islamic Mission Allama Shah Ahmed Noorani, was held.
The issues of cooperation to counter the challenges of Islamophobia, as well as the promotion of the initiative for the unity of the Muslim Ummah were discussed.
The sides expressed their readiness to actively cooperate to establish contacts between the spiritual institutions of the two countries, jointly promote and propagate the ideas of tolerance and interfaith harmony.
The Special Assistant to the Prime Minister was informed about the reforms being carried out in Uzbekistan under the leadership of President Shavkat Mirziyoyev, in particular in the restoration and construction of Muslim shrines.
He highly appreciated the large-scale construction work on the improvement and expansion of the Imam Bukhari complex. Hon. Prime Minister of Pakistan Mian Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif got acquainted with the construction of the complex during his participation in the 22nd SCO Summit and expressed gratitude to the Leadership of Uzbekistan and the Government of the Republic for giving the Pakistani delegation the opportunity to visit the Imam Bukhari complex in Samarkand.
The sides also stressed the importance of a joint project to prepare an Islamic Encyclopedia.
The sides also reached an agreement on the continuation of a joint project on the preparation of an Islamic Encyclopedia by the International Islamic Academy of Uzbekistan and the Ministry of Religious Affairs and Interfaith Harmony of Pakistan.
The parties agreed to hold a separate working meeting to discuss in detail the implementation of joint projects.
